REA REIGNITES CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE
Jonathan Rea dominates a wet and wild race one at Donington Park ahead of Tom Sykes and Leon Haslam.
As the lights went out, Rea and Sykes both bolted from the line and diced for the lead in the first corner. Home hero, Haslam, slotted in behind the leading duo to take third with championship leader, Alvaro Bautista in fourth.
The Northern Irishman pushed to pull away from the pack and create a 7 second gap from his former teammate back in second place. Sykes showed potential to catch the Kawasaki rider but not enough to stop Rea from taking the chequered flag first. But although the top two were settled, the battle for third place commenced between Haslam and Loris Baz with the experienced Haslam managing to get the better of the Frenchman to clinch the final podium spot.
Alvaro Bautista crashed from the race and lost the Championship lead to Rea, seeing the first new Championship leader this year.
