NUMBER 19'S NUMBER 9
The number nineteen makes it nine wins out of nine, as Alvaro Bautista once again dominates in World Superbike race three in Aragon.
As the lights went out, the Spanish rocket bolted from the line to lead the race going into turn one. Four-time World Champion, Jonathan Rea, matched the start of Bautista, however, the Welsh turbo, Chaz Davies, charged his way through the field to sit behind his teammate and take second.
It wasn’t long before Bautista pulled away from the front of the group and left Rea, Davies, Alex Lowes and 2018 British Superbike champion, Leon Haslam, to scrap for the rostrum places. Although Rea and Davies proved to be the ones to beat for the podium, the Midlands lads showed their hands and didn’t make it easy for them to runaway.
Bautista finished the race just short of seven seconds ahead of Rea, who took advantage of Davies’ mistake at turn one, taking away the opportunity of Ducati having the first one-two since 2012. Haslam got the better of Lowes to finish fourth with the Yamaha rider completing the top five.
