MOTOGP DOWN UNDER
The MotoGP paddock heads down under for Round 17 of the 2018 season for a race full of drama, controversy and seagulls.
Marc Marquez may have secured his seventh World Championship back in Japan, but the race for the Silver and Bronze medal is still alive. Andrea Dovizioso, Valentino Rossi and Maverick Viñales are all in the hunt for some silver-ware this season and anything can happen, like we saw last weekend. Last year made one of the best races of the 2017 season, can we get a repeat of that this year?
“Pecco” Bagnaia leads the charge in Moto2 after being rewarded his eighth win of the season in Motegi, but the championship is still very much alive. Miguel Oliveira won last time out on the Island and if there’s a repeat of that this year it will take his deficit to just 12 points. Can Oliveira finish the season in style like last year? Will Pecco triumph under the pressure?
Drama back in Japan saw Jorge Martin hit the gravel as his title rival, Marco Bezzecchi, took the top spot of the podium, leaving only a point difference between the duo. After Fabio Di Giannantonio’s vicious high-side at the Twin Ring Motegi, he sits 28 points from second place but it’s nothing a win in Phillip Island won’t fix. Who will lead going into Malaysia or who will crack under the pressure?
