Luca Marini takes his maiden win in a sweaty Malaysia, as his teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, is crowned 2018 Moto2 World Champion.

From the off Marini dominated the race in the run down to turn one, but he was patient enough to take an intelligent line to swoop around the outside to then squeeze through a gap to take the lead. Fellow Italian and new World Champion, Bagnaia, followed Marini throughout the first half of the race, before Miguel Oliveira laid eyes on a chance to win, so the battle commenced.

Oliveira dived up the inside of “Pecco” but wasn’t sitting in second that easily, as the VR46 rider snatched back that second place in the next corner. After a lap of squabbling, it was the Portuguese rider who took the full twenty points place and set his sights upon the win.

However, Luca Marini was too far out of reach, as he pushed to the limit for the remainder of the race and met the chequered flag to take his first ever Grand Prix win. Oliveira crossed the line in second but wasn’t enough to prevent Bagnaia from taking home the World Championship and a third place.
