JOSH DOES THE DOUBLE
Josh Brookes dominates the second race of the second round to kick off his title campaign.
The BeWiser Ducati shot from the middle of the front row to snatch the lead going into turn one. Jason O’Halloran sparked Australian hope, as the McAms Yamaha sat in second ahead of Tommy Bridewell, Christian Iddon, Danny Buchan and Scott Redding. However, Bridewell was hot on the tail of O’Halloran before making the pass for second and staying there for the remainder of the race. Iddon resolved his race one blues by also getting underneath O’Halloran to promote himself to third, while O’Halloran came under attack from Buchan and Redding.
From then on, the hunt for the final rostrum positions started. Buchan reeled in Iddon and eventually found away past the Tyco BMW rider after a hard fought scrap. Redding followed closely in Buchan’s footsteps and found himself battling for fourth with Iddon, who also was in the firing line of Tarran Mackenzie. Once surging past Iddon, “Taz” set his sights on a top four finish, catching Redding lap by lap. However, the chequered flag came out before he had the chance to make his move.
Brookes does the double, as Bridewell and Buchan complete the podium for the second time today. Redding maintains fourth, while Mackenzie and Iddon round out the top six.
