Leon Haslam hunts down Tarran Mackenzie to take another show-stopping win this season, at Assen TT Circuit.

As the lights went out, Mackenzie stormed from the line and worked his Pirelli rubber to his advantage, taking the lead for 16 laps. Haslam, Dixon and Hickman chipped away to bridge the gap between themselves and the leading rookie, enabling themselves the highest chance of standing on the top step of the podium.

The separated front four quickly became a quartet, meaning that anybody was in with a chance to take the chequered flag first. As Haslam squeezed past Mackenzie, Hickman prevented title contender, Dixon, from following Haslam through, as he passed the RAF Regular and Reserve rider for third. Dixon dominantly struck back at Hickman and left him to settle for fourth. Jake’s next challenger he needed to overcome before he could set his sights on Derbyshire man, Haslam, was Scotsman, Mackenzie. Future Moto2 rider, Dixon, triumphed past former Moto2 rider, Mackenzie, leaving only his title rival in his sights.

The battle for the win was now only between the two Kawasaki riders, but there was a lot of work to do for Dixon in the last lap. Haslam took the chequered flag first despite Dixon’s efforts, extending his championship lead.

Mackenzie completed the rostrum ahead of Hickman and Glenn Irwin, rounding out the top five.
