BEFORE THE TAPES GO UP: MALILLA
The world class Speedway Grand Prix series heads to Malilla, Sweden, opening the second half of the season with the Scandinavian GP.
Home hero, Freddie Lindgren, looks to impress in front of the Swedish crowd, despite having missed out on the semi-finals in Cardiff. Lindgren currently sits in second place in the championship table at a 20 point deficit to Brit, Tai Woffinden. The former Wolverhampton Wolves teammates have ensured breath-taking racing over the course of the first half of the season, but after an altercation earlier in the series, Woffinden and Lindgren certainly won’t hesitate to pull some controversial moves when they go head-to-head.
Malilla is home to the Swedish Elitserien speedway team Dackarna. Fan favourite, Greg Hancock, stars as a key figure in Dackarna’s side, amongst Poles, Maciej Janowski and Patryk Dudek. With all three riders not shy of speed or harsh racing, you can’t deny they all look strong contenders for a semi-final spot.
Can Freddie shorten Woffinden’s title lead? Or can Hancock, Janowski and Dudek supply rostrum delight for the Dackarna fans?
