BEFORE THE TAPES GO UP: GB VS AUS
A return of the international test match sees Great Britain battle against Australia at Glasgow this Saturday.
Current world championship leader, Tai Woffinden, spearheads the Lions whereas Chris Holder captains the Aussies in the absence of Jason Doyle. Jason Doyle was originally named as part of the 6 man team just after his crash at the Cardiff GP, however, it may have been an optimistic move as the 14-day concussion rule sees him out of action until Sunday August 5th.
The Lions line-up 1-6 as: Tai Woffinden, Steve Worrall, Craig Cook, Chris Harris, Adam Ellis and Dan Bewley. You may have spotted the non-appearance of Robert Lambert, who has mutually agreed with team manager Alun Rossiter to take time out for a holiday which he feels he needs to get back to his best. Despite a major part of GB being left out of the line-up, all riders will undoubtedly put 100% into all races and will be determined to knock down the Aussies.
On the other side of the pits, the Australians showcase: Sam Masters, Brady Kurtz, Chris Holder, Ty Proctor, Max Fricke and Jack Holder. The original line-up included Jason Doyle and Rohan Tungate but with Doyle ruled out due to injury, and Tungate ruled out with his Polish club demanding him to be at practice, you could argue that the Australian side has been weakened.
The meeting takes place at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium in Glasgow at 3pm.
Can Tai lead his Lions like he leads the way in the World Championship table over a weakened Australian side? Or will the absence of British talent Robert Lambert be too big of a blow to the home side?
