Spaniard, Alvaro Bautista, makes it 11/11 in his debut season of World Superbikes.
From the line it was once again Bautista who stormed into turn one first, however, it wasn’t long until Jonathan Rea showed his World Champion qualities to take the lead. The pack stayed close together while Rea spearheaded the field, with Bautista right on the Irishman’s tail. Eventually, the Aruba. It Ducati rider found his way back to the front and led until the chequered flag.
Michael van der Mark appeared to be the man to watch as he battled with his teammate, Alex Lowes, and triumphed past him to take third. His next mission was to hunt down the Kawasaki rider in second place, cutting down the gap significantly every lap. The Dutchman found himself on the rear of Rea and swooped round the outside to take second place. However, the 4 time World Champion didn’t let his 20 points slip away so easily, as he made a last lap lunge on van der Mark, forcing them both wide. Yet with more grip, the Yamaha rider kept it pinned to take second place on the line.
Jonathan Rea completed the podium, with Alex Lowes and Chaz Davies finishing the top five.
