Alex Marquez extended his championship lead from his eight Moto2 pole position, as the intermediate class fire up the fight for the title after the summer break.

Marquez led from the get-go as the lights went out, with rookie, Fabio Di Giannantonio, taking second from Brit, Sam Lowes. Lowes who looked remarkably quick in the wet and mixed conditions, struggled out on the dry track which saw him slip down the field before crashing out of the race.

The fight for the final rostrum spot was heating up with Marcel Schrotter, Luca Marini, Nicolo Bulega, Jorge Navarro and Enea Bastianini. Navarro confirmed the pace of the Speed Up at the Brno circuit, as he triumphed past Bulega, Marini and Schrotter to give his team the hope of their first double rostrum since Andrea Iannone and Gabor Talmasci in 2010. However, all hopes were crushed as from 18th on the grid, Bastianini continued moving up the field, battling with Navarro before eventually taking third away from him.

Luca Marini completed the top five, with Schrotter and Italy’s Bulega in sixth and seventh.
